Kosher tea?

I'm searching the interwebs trying to figure out how tea could be NON-Kosher? I suppose that could just mean not blessed by a rabbi, but I find the existence of Kosher tea slightly disturbing. Not because it's Kosher, but because... what does it mean if it is NOT?

Date: 17 Dec 2019 04:48 (UTC)We went to a friend's bar mitzvah (in 2011) and this kid attended a Hebrew Day School and they had lots of friends who kept strict kosher. So one of the things they ordered was kosher salad greens. I was a bit befuddled by this, and IIRC the issue was bugs or bug parts or something like that. Because bugs aren't kosher in and of themselves but if you have a few by accident no big deal but if they cross a threshold... Which makes me wonder if organic would be harder to certify as kosher (this may have been part of the discussion, way back 8.5 years ago).
So anyway, maybe it's something like that.
