5 Oct 2019 21:42Yesterday was brutal. We drove 740 miles, from Ontario OR to Cortez, CO. It would have been long no matter what, but we got caught in rush-afternoon in Salt Lake City and it took us about 4 hours to drive what should have taken maybe 1.5-2 hours. Got in to Cortez exhausted at about 1am.
This morning we left Cortez and headed to the Four Corners Monument. Dh hadn't been since he was a kid, before the current setup, and I'd never been at all, it was always too late in the day for us to get there before it closed.
Today we did!
It was nice. I love things like that, I mean, one of the things I hope to do one year is travel around the country to check out all the civil engineering monuments I can, so I happily geek out on survey stuff.
I have photos, but between the iffy access (I'm on the hotspot from dh's phone), the fact that I am standing at a countertop in my FIL's house in ABQ, and dreamwidth's awful photo interface, I'll post them when I'm in slightly better circumstances.
Tomorrow we get up at 3am to get a bus to the Balloon Fiesta to see the mass ascension. Whee! Hopefully I 'll get some good photos!
