nwhikerFIL is doing much better even that yesterday and while not happy talking on the phone with SIL (who badgers him incessantly) is happy to text with people.
He also seems to be getting the message that considering the poor dog's state, she needs to be euthanized. Her quality of life is pretty low, even if she is, dh says, seemingly content and not in major amounts of pain. But... walking is problematic to say the least. Yesterday, dh thought she would not make it beyond a few days, today, he says she seems "better". For very small values of better.
From what I can tell, the tentative plan is to release him from hospital Wednesday to a rehab place for the Thanksgiving weekend and the beginning on the following week. Dh will then stay over the weekend to make sure he can more or less cope (and a lot will depend on what happens with the dog).
Alas, and here comes my pouty face, all that means dh won't be home until 3 December at the earliest. Which means he misses two events that Linnea, him, and I had planned, which is going to make her very sad. And, since he's not getting much/any work done, I'm hoping he'll still be able to take off some vacation in December, as planned. That does feel very pouty and very selfish, btw, and it is, but I'm a bit annoyed at SIL. She is working a fast food job, 4 hours a day, so she can't go down, but she's objecting to MIL going down to spell dh a bit because "well, who is going to babysit R?" I'll note that R is in school when she works. It's for her multiple "wellness" things, like massages and group therapy and stuff. (Our vague original plan had been to fly MIL down there the Wednesday, and then dh would be with her Wed/Thu/Fri and fly home Saturday). Whatever. It's just a weekend, and Linnea's plans, and to be clear, my spouse is not the one to blame here. My in-laws get along a lot better when not married, and are actually quite close.
Next big goal: getting FIL up here. This is stupid ridiculous.
