I was telling dh about my conversation with Linnea on WWI and segued into Macron honouring Pétain. I may not be French, but you do not go though the French educational system without an emotional understanding of the shame of the Vichy government, and a horror of what Pétain did. I don't think my spouse quite expected my vehement response. It was probably a bit over the top for a middle aged American suburban housewife.
