For anyone reading Kristen's Cashore's Graceling and Fire books, the third one, Bitterblue just showed up from my pre-order at amazon.

Texting with the 14yo:

Me: Bitterblue

Her: Yesssssssssssss!

Good books all. I do usually warn because while they're perfectly fine, I know some people are uncomfortable with young women having -gasp!- sexual agency portrayed in a positive manner, and one scene in _Graceling_ is a bit more explicit than usual for young adult books. Nothing that a 12 yo, say, couldn't handle, but the books were good enough that Perry, then 9, wanted to read them. We listened on CD and just skipped that one passage with him.

The scene is when Katsa has sex for the first time. It talks about the physical pain of being penetrated for that first time, and how she deals with and embraces the pain. It felt like a bit too much for a 9 year old.

I'm pretty sure I reviewed both books here, if I can find the links to my reviews, I'll post them.
