It hit 90% of the things we needed to see: insulin/drug prices, childcare etc. I don't think Biden is naive, in his four-point unity agenda, but pulling it out of his "general" agenda is probably a calculated political move, to make it as costly as possible for the GQP to refuse to vote on it.
One unforgivable omission: not talking about how we still are dealing with cops killing Black and brown people. It needs to be mentioned. Over and over.
About "Test to Treat". I think that's brilliant. Since we've decided that a good percentage of the population is expendable (I'm one of them), this will help at least get people treatment quickly, so they hopefully don't spread their spew all over everyone else.
Here's what I came up with earlier this week when I was trying to think about anything but my defense: send tests to everyone. 30 days, or better yet, six weeks worth of tests for everyone over the age of whatever low age can take a test. Ask people to use them. If they get a positive, follow up with test-and-treat. My initial plan was to say if they test positive, pay them to stay home for five days, effectively a modified lockdown which would keep positive people inside and hopefully, in a month to six weeks, break the chain of transmission.
I just hate living in fear of the next variant, and I think that 2000 people dying a day of Covid is 100% unacceptable. I've seen language on twitter that echoes the "boomer remover" of the start of the pandemic, talking about how, in the end, the "sick" will be dead and US society better for it. It's always jarring to see eugenics in stark view.
