nwhikerSo. Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, finished by Brandon Sanderson.
I started it years ago (like mid-90s), but bogged for on book 4 or 5, for various reasons. Started to read again more recently, and I had to push to get beyond some stuff, but it's such an epic and rich series that I figured it was worth the effort. I'm about 1/3 done with book 13, the Last Book, and I keep on not finishing it, it's been something I have to finish for so long, I'm having a hard time, well, finishing and bringing it to an end.
But finish it I will because the first installment of the adaptation is coming out this November and I'm incredibly excited.
I just watched the trailer.
EEEK! So excited. Moiraine looks perfect and powerful! The White Tower isn't as tall, white, or skinny as I expected, though it does tower properly over Tar Valon. I love how they made the weaves visible. I love the casting so far, with the small exception that I'd always pictured Mat as much cuter than the dude they chose. I love that they didn't just cast white actors, but Elayne damn well better have rose-gold hair, or I'm out, LOL. I wonder who they cast as Min. I loathe Min. Almost as much as I loathe Faile, who is my most HATED character in the series.
November 19th. I'm so looking forward to this. And now I do know by when I have to have the book finished by. At least that's the week before Thanksgiving, so I won't have to hide away because while my family VERY cool about a lot of things, none of them love fantasy the way I do. And my aunt at least thinks it's something people should have grown out of to move on to real books at some point, LOL.
