Overall, it's good.

Mom update

It's going ok, but this is not workable for the rest of the summer without some major changes.

I mean, dh is trying. He wakes her up at about his lunchtime and tries to have break/fast lunch with her. He gets her coffee and snacks in the afternoon. Perry tries to be interactive as well, but she's still sitting that all day with only a few human interactions, and that's not good.

Dh is moving his desk back out to the living room this weekend, so that'll help, there will at least be someone there.

It's not like I talked with her that much, but because I wasn't working, I did, at least a bit.

My sister tells me that Mom pretty much will spend the whole day watching the news (and remember some of it to talk about) and that they have to force her to come down for meals, but that isn't the same. The TV provides a kind of distraction and liveliness that reading National Geographic does not.

I don't know how this would work this summer.

One thing I am going to suggest, but this would probably only work for a month or so, is to see if Linnea is willing to spend a month in Bend at my sister's. Room and board and $20/hour for 4 or so hours a day. It would not work here because part of what stresses her out is sharing a bathroom with my mother and in Bend, she'd have a self-contained suite. If she agrees, I'll float the idea by my sister.

Mother is back to obsessing over the house in Garden City. It was sold 50 years ago when her parents died. She "can't find the keys" and is pissed that I don't care that the house is "sitting open". Sigh.
