Bit of a bummer
19 Feb 2022 12:20Where do real adults buy things like rugs?
We've always bought ours (two) at Ikea. We're not really a rug kind of family, more hardwoods. Our old (Swedish, sob!) hardwoods were great, the ones after the remodel are shit. They're soft, get scratched and dinged at the slightest thing (as in, drop a knife, there will be a gouge.). Apparently, despite the fact that they're the same oak the other ones were, the oak used now is cheap Chinese shit. So we need a runner under the counter overhang (computer stations) and a rug under the dining room table.
Eventually I want to get a colorful oriental rug under the piano, but the piano doesn't move.
I've been looking at rugs for a while online and finally found something I liked. Ordered on amazon, of course, because nobody carries it locally (Home Depot is supposed to, but not they've never had it.), it hot here yesterday.
Complete flop. I was expecting, because of description and photos, a raised ivory pattern on an ivory background.
What showed up? Ivory pattern on... beige background.... UGHLEEE...
It was supposed to look like this:

Alas, it did not.
It's going back to amazon (I ordered a smaller one first, not the 8x10 I need for the dining room table), and I need to find new rugs.
So. Where do people find rugs? Ikea doesn't appear to have what I want, and I'm kinda at a loss. I loathe shopping, so I often have this problem: where do I go, in person, to buy something. Sigh.
Annoyed, lol.
