I'm going to try to get in a post every day in October. It'll be fun, right?
It's not going to be easy since we're driving down to New Mexico on Thursday. I am truly not looking forward to this, but it's gotta get done. I hope we can empty the garage in short order. We're taking our Pilot, and whatever fits comes home, and that's it.
The house is empty, so we'll be bringing sleeping bags and the like with us. We were thinking about bringing the tent, and camping on the way down and up, if a camping site presented itself, but after the weekend's winter storm... I don't think that's gonna work. If we had time, yes, but since we want to do this quickly, I just don't want to deal with damp snowy gear if the weather ends up iffy.
I finished writing the intro to my thesis this afternoon. I need to get it into a semi-decent format (double spaced, stuff like that) and get it to my advisor. Hopefully she'll have time to see my tomorrow for a bit, since I have to be up there anyhow.
I hate formatting files. I usually end up crying and screaming at Word.
Ah well.
Last night was quite chilly around here, and today has been as well. I went to the library to use the study room to write write write. I bought my blankie. And yes, I had on wool socks, a wool hat, two layers of polarfleece... and I was still cold. I have a photo, but uploading and posting photos to dreamwidth is such a PITA. Here's a link for anyone wanting to see my ugly fat face: hopefully this works.
Where was I? Oh yeah, weather, chilly. But clear. We've had many days of rain, but they have often cleared up in the afternoon/evening. Today, it's been mostly clear. And the sunsets have just been beautiful, all pink and peach and purple.
I saw a recipe for "savory crab cakes". What other kind of crab cakes could there be? Sweet ones? SHUDDER.
I confirmed that Perry's expensive phone case did in fact leak, and that's probably what ruined the very expensive phone, not some mis-use on his part. Grr. I'll be contacting the company.
New Mexico next week, then. We'll be there for the Albuquerque Baloon Fiesta, so I think we'll get up at 3am to get to the mass ascension Sunday morning!
Last Friday we got to see Kamala Harris at a campaign event in Seattle. She's good. She's funny and quick and totally as awesome as I'd hoped.
I made my campaign donations today. A lot to Harris, and a bunch of smaller donations to the five candidates I'll be supporting for 2020. Harrison in SC who is running against Lindsey SlimeMonster Graham, Mark Kelly in AZ, Amy McGraw who is running KY against the TurtleSpawn of Satan, and two House races, both in Washington State, with the goal of making the WA state delegation more blue.
