Ugh.

I know in some ways it's her fault, and ours for not noticing... but Linnea just got a D in computer science, final grade. It was her favorite class, and she put a lot of effort into it.

To the point where her final project got a 98/100. She seriously spent some time on it.

Her final project presentation got a 92 or something.

Etc.

Most of her other grades were decent, in the upper Bs.

What killed her? The same thing as always: missing assignments. There were four of them, all getting 0s, which brought her grade day from a very high B to a very high D.

I'm, to be honest, a bit annoyed that the teacher didn't reach out of us.

Yeah, we should be more or top of this... but there is no centralized way to see grades and assignments and what is missing. Every teacher has their own system, the grades are not in the same place as the assignments, often the gradebook doesn't get updated until late and... well, blah. We try, but since she'd been working SO hard on the project, I think both of us filed computer science under "doing ok" and didn't carefully follow up, preferring to spent our time on the other subjects.

It's just heartbreaking. Yes, I know it's her fault for not keeping track, but it's really hard for her to do, and the lack of a centralized system (think Canvas) doesn't help.

Every time we meet with the school to ask for help, they point to the missing assignments and say "well, if she'd just turn in all her stuff, it would be ok!", but part of the problem is that she has a hard time with keeping track of the assignments. She's gotten better -we figured out a method that works for her- but when things slip, it isn't obvious. Again, our mistake, but we have not gotten any help. So we're escalating.

Ugh.

I need to do some research on if there are schools or school districts that work well with kids with disabilities like hers. Since the other two are more independent, AC with the loser and Perry at college, there is noting preventing us from moving for a few years if we can get a better placement for her.
