Blah blah blah. But they're getting done.

I have some dental surgery on Wednesday, so nice soft (bean only, I don't use meat) chili for that day. Linnea has a 5k run on Saturday, so we're giving her pasta the night before. No, it's not necessary, but it makes her feel important so we do it.

Monday: roasted potatoes, onions, and carrots with chicken sausage.

Tuesday: leftovers...

Wednesday: chili with cornbread.

Thursday: ham and eggs, fruit salad, toast.

Friday: pasta with tomato sauce and mushrooms. Ground beef or chicken Italian sausage.

Saturday: matar paneer with naan and roasted cauliflower. Yum.

Sunday: beef kotfa meat with rice and sautéed spinach.

I don't try to skewer the kofka any longer, I've just not had much luck with that. I end up cooking it with an onion, setting it aside, making rice with chicken stock, then adding the meat back in at the end. It's quite good.

I'm give Weight Watcher's (stupid) Freestyle another try. I did it for 6 weeks last year, and ended up hungry, and at the same weight. It's been almost a week, and this low carb/paleo shit is not for me. I'll try and last through the 8 weeks I've promised myself I'd try it for, but I'm already feeling that fuzziness that I get when I'm not eating enough carbs. Not eating sugar -which is too punitive to be worth it- is never a problem for me, but never being able to get enough carbs to feel satisfied is.

I mean, there is something profoundly wrong when a bowl of oatmeal is twice as "expensive" as a disgusting processed protein shake, and where a bagel (which if I were counting calories, should be about 25% of my daily intake) is almost 50% of my daily non-protein allotment. I think the diet as WW presents it works, but I don't think it's livable long term for me.

I also question the obsession with protein. This article was interesting: Protein mania: the rich world’s new diet obsession.
