This makes no sense.

A "Christian" killing Jews because they are kind to Muslim refugees. Why didn't he cut out the middlemen and just go straight to killing the Muslims? Trump would have praised him then..

OK. Let me start over.

Leaving aside the absolute horror that was visited on innocent people, this is horrid. Horrible and proof of profound antisemitism, and that, indeed, hate is easy to induce.

A few weeks ago I listened to Madeleine Albright reading her newest book, Fascism: A Warning. I highly recommend the book. It's not deep down history (one could write a book out of each and every chapter of this one), and it's not a free-for-all Trump bashing (which I was secretly hoping for), but it's instead exactly what the title says it is: a warning. Of how "it could never happen here" might be morphing into "it's happening here..." in front of our very eyes.

Dh said today that the deplorables have gone to war, and I think he's right. They've decided to take it to the next level, to use domestic terrorism to further their agenda.

Vote, they tell us. And then you read that people in Texas who voted a straight Democratic ticket noticed that their vote for US Senate was for Ted Cruz. This does not, to say the least, inspire confidence that this election will be any more fair than many of its predecessors.

When the other side controls all the levers of power, and is clearly willing to put partisan politics above all else, it truly does give weight to the idea that yes, it may very well be happening here.

If the Dems don't make significant inroads this next election, I'm going to start working on dh to get the hell out of this country.

My menus for this week, so I can refer back to them later!

Monday: taco salad (from last week...)

Tuesday: leftovers

Wednesday: shawarma with naan

Thursday: chicken sausage with roasted potatoes and onions

Friday: pork tenderloin with rice and baby broccoli

Saturday: calzones, made using the little frozen dinner roll balls. Not bad, all things considered.

Sunday: tortellini with butter and parmesan. Linnea has a regatta in Portland, it's going to be A Long Day for everyone, so something easy that she loves was the idea.
