So I've been complaining about seasonal allergies for a while, and they've not gotten any better. Sneezing snotting, and now coughing. Ugh. I'm 99% sure it's just, well, the continuation of my run of seasonal allergies, but I'm not going out at all since I don't want to freak anyone else out (to be clear: I have no fever, my sense of smell is fine if my nose isn't clogged, I feel fine etc). But not going out to shop at all because, well, I'd not be happy to hear anyone else coughing and while I'm not coughing a lot, I figure if I cough at all in the middle of a Costco, people will be legitimately upset.
Anyhow, dh and Perry are doing the shopping. And they're terrible at it. They both try to second guess the list and don't buy anything that is NOT on the list.
So, for example. I sent them to Safeway yesterday. The place was pretty much cleaned out (I am more and more convinced that there ARE problems with food supply and that we are being lied to. Still no rice and beans available any place we've been.) I had creamer on the list. Dh and Linnea use it, I do not. Well, dh decided not to get it, because he was sure we had "plenty". Linnea finished it this morning. WTF? If I freaking PUT creamer on the list, it's because I actually CHECKED. I put "candy" on the list. I didn't specify, figuring we all know enough about each other to buy candy... They came home with (ew) Werther's thingies, which only Perry eats normally, and SUGAR FREE, because surely I wanted sugar free? I don't even like those candies, and certainly not SF, the only reason we HAVE three bags of them is that I'd brought them back from my FIL's, not noticing they were sugar free, and never bothered to toss them. So now we have FOUR bags that nobody is going to eat. And no candy. Cream cheese was on the list. Safeway was out of the blocks. They did not buy a tub. I had chips on the list. They bought one bag, and the smaller size. Note the chips were on sale 3 for $5, but they paid $2.99 for one bag. Did I mention that Perry can eat one bag in one sitting? And Linnea about 3/4 of a bag. WTF, dudes?
They've just headed out to Costco. I tried to give them a list that was both flexible and specific. If they can't find EXACTLY what is written down, they won't buy it, they won't think outside the box. They won't buy anything that is NOT on the list, even if they think we're out if I have not written it down. This makes it very stressful for me. Normally, this just mildly annoys me, but as we're trying to NOT go out too often, it's really fucking pissing me off.
Adding to my stress if that both MIL and SIL are out of TP. Once we give them some (again), we'll be low. My SIL uses more TP than any single person known to humanity, and leaves a trail of clogged toilets behind her (in the three years she's been in her current place, she's had three catastrophic clogged toilet floods, needing to replace carpets and flooring, etc). She overflowed our toilet twice while visiting, and that has never happened to anyone else. We don't know why either. :P MIL said she did it as a kid, and MIL used to think she was throwing toys down the drain, but I think she's discarded that hypothesis. Anyhow, SIL goes through a lot of TP. Local stores MIL went to were all out, so she asked us. I hope dh can find some at Costco today, though I doubt it. I must admit, I'm getting a bit annoyed at being the supplier of TP, wipes, and sanitizer for everyone. ETA. I should be clear. I don't mind supplying my MIL, I'm more than happy to have us do her shopping, it's safer that way. I just get annoyed that she then supplies my SIL. Who can't be bothered to do anything. I thought she was working for Instacart, but I guess she quit? I have no idea. But regardless, my MIL is the conduit through which our hand sanitizer, wipes, and TP end up in my SIL's house, leaving my MIL out, and for us to supply her.
Rolling my eyes at my bitchy self. I'm annoyed because I can't go out, and have to rely on someone else to painfully do a task that I do without trouble.
Dinner tonight is chicken and rice. It's the last of my long grained rice, I only have some short grained stuff left. I haven't been able to find rice in a month.
