Happy Solstice!

Let's face it, none of my two readers are in the Southern Hemisphere, so eh, it's going to be a Northern-centric post! 🤣

I wrote this a few years ago, I love this time of year, and I know I'm in the minority. I love the dark [...], I love the early early early sunsets and the late sunrises. I love how short the days are and how precious the light. Needless to say I am absolutely fucking horrified at the idea of permanent daylight savings times. I wept real tears when Congress extended that damn invention, ruining Halloween, and shortening this period of dark, so I'll be extremely depressed if they impose it on us year 'round. I like DST plenty fine in the summer, when it's not dark until almost 10pm, but I don't want it in the winter... actually, I'd be happiest on ST year around, it's closer to the sun and it still holds true, even as I spend more time inside than I'd like.

It's our anniversary and I was hoping to get out on a short hike, but with everything we have to do this weekend, I think I'll try to get as much stuff done today as possible and go on a hike tomorrow if time permits, hoping to reduce stress.

Happy Anniversary, [personal profile] camelsamba! Someone said on bluesky that what you did on the solstice, you didn't have to do again, and that makes it a spectacular day to get married, right?

The darkest days are over at least from a nature standpoint, for this year!

Happy Solstice, Happy Yule, and welcome back light!

Happy anniversary to you, too! Glad I won't have to get married again - definitely couldn't keep up with modern trends :^) And I hope you managed to hike on Sunday!
