Snow geese
I watched as the snow geese took off from the lake this morning. They go by headed north first, low with big flappy wings, turn at the north end of the lake, then fly by again, higher, all stretched out in gorgeous efficient mode. As they go by, you can see their black after white wings, but as they get further away into the rainy gloom, they're just beautiful large white birds headed south.

For one of the classes I take at our Y, I like to line up in front of the window. Last week there was light snow blowing off the roof. It was backlit by the low sun and spinning around in the wind and it was just so pretty - kind of like a flock of birds.
