Ugh. Annoyed with myself and an Etsy seller.

Linnea decided she wanted to get dh a stand for his pocket watch. I agreed that it was a great idea, and she searched Etsy and found a really nice one.

It looked small to me, and there were no dimensions in the listing.

So I emailed the seller with a photo of the watch, all annotated with its dimensions. In cm, of course.

I got a response that wasn't completely satisfactory: basically that the the watch stand was plenty big for ANY WATCH they'd ever tested it with and there were several hundred in use, and that they'd never heard of a watch not fitting.

You can all see where this is going right?

We ordered it. Expensive, and with shipping form the UK, even more so. And...

Yeah, it doesn't fit dh's pocket watch at all. The damn thing slides right off the pegs meant to hold it. And because the stand is a lot smaller than we expected, it would be too top heavy anyhow.

I am pissed the seller because two seconds of looking at the photo I sent and the watch stand would have showed her the problem and saved me $50.

I am also pissed with myself for listening to the reassurances and not demanding actual dimensions, partly under pressure from a Linnea-desperate-for-a-cool-pressie-for-her-father.

Ugh.
